The Downtown Street
The weekend was sober
and the weather was bleak.
I felt lonesome
in the loomed dark.
Feasts brought in
much joy in the past.
There used to be a festive mood
Which had lasted through a week
This time round
it came calm and quiet.
The street was so sleepy
that the whole day
looked lifeless
The joy and colors
of yesteryears seemed lost.
I thought the night
would bring in cheer
The lamps woke up
after a long slumber
The moon entered..
Yet the street remained empty
like a sky robbed of
stars and clouds.
Hopeful still,
I'm waiting for the dawn.
